This week I went back to work after 6 months off. Boy was I overwhelmed and reminded how messed up the NYC school system is. I am teaching 3 different classes- freshman, sophomore's and repeaters; I teach in two different classrooms; I now report to a different boss, and after two previous years of having a co-teacher there was not enough funds for that. There is technically no longer a Math department, English department, etc. at Graphics- they are trying to make it all academies. I am in the journalism academy, which is the same as last year but this year they are really trying to enforce the change. I mostly stay to myself and try to get my work done so I can get out as quick as I can!!!
Aldo is doing okay with day care. Tony takes and I pick up. It takes me about 35+ minutes to get to the day care from my school and then another 45+ to get home. We do really like the day care. He is in the Koala room with 8 other babies his age (he is the biggest of course)! He is enjoying lots of new foods (they make there own organic baby food). He has had winter squash for the past four days with an afternoon snack that varies from mangos to pears. They take them for walks, listen to music, read books, nap, eat......just let them be babies!
It has been a hard adjustment for me going back to work. Mainly how busy I have become. I am always cleaning bottles, writing a lesson, grading homeworks, giving a bath, etc. etc. etc. My mom and aunt reminded me that it was the first week of doing that for the rest of my life- thanks! haa haa. Well better get to planning my lessons for tomorrow-----
PS- Today all Aldo did was talk! He was goooooooing and gaaaaaaing all day! Hilarious!
